Numbers 11:18

Good News Translation

Now tell the people, ‘Purify yourselves for tomorrow; you will have meat to eat. The Lord has heard you whining and saying that you wished you had some meat and that you were better off in Egypt. Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will have to eat it.

So Jacob said to his family and to all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods that you have; purify yourselves and put on clean clothes.

Let them eat all they want! God will punish them in fury and anger.

It is true that he struck the rock, and water flowed out in a torrent; but can he also provide us with bread and give his people meat?”

Get up! Purify the people and get them ready to come before me. You cannot stand against your enemies until you get rid of these things!’

So now the people of Israel went to Bethel and sat there in the presence of God until evening. Loudly and bitterly they mourned:
