Good News Translation

The Lord is good; he protects his people in times of trouble; he takes care of those who turn to him.

Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good; his love is eternal.

They put their trust in God and prayed to him for help, and God answered their prayers and made them victorious over the Hagrites and their allies.

And so the people of Judah were victorious over Israel, because they relied on the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

They sang the Lord's praises, repeating the refrain: “The Lord is good, and his love for Israel is eternal.” Everyone shouted with all their might, praising the Lord, because the work on the foundation of the Temple had been started.

The righteous are guided and protected by the Lord, but the evil are on the way to their doom.

The Lord is good; his love is eternal and his faithfulness lasts forever.

May the Lord answer you when you are in trouble! May the God of Jacob protect you!

Because the Lord is righteous and good, he teaches sinners the path they should follow.

In times of trouble he will shelter me; he will keep me safe in his Temple and make me secure on a high rock.

The Lord saves the righteous and protects them in times of trouble.

He helps them and rescues them; he saves them from the wicked, because they go to him for protection.

So we will not be afraid, even if the earth is shaken and mountains fall into the ocean depths;

Call to me when trouble comes; I will save you, and you will praise me.”

But I will sing about your strength; every morning I will sing aloud of your constant love. You have been a refuge for me, a shelter in my time of trouble.

Be my secure shelter and a strong fortress to protect me; you are my refuge and defense.

I call to you in times of trouble, because you answer my prayers.

Those who know you, Lord, will trust you; you do not abandon anyone who comes to you.

When they call to me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honor them.

The Lord is like a strong tower, where the righteous can go and be safe.

The poor and the helpless have fled to you and have been safe in times of trouble. You give them shelter from storms and shade from the burning heat. Cruel enemies attack like a winter storm,

Each of them will be like a shelter from the wind and a place to hide from storms. They will be like streams flowing in a desert, like the shadow of a giant rock in a barren land.

All of you that honor the Lord and obey the words of his servant, the path you walk may be dark indeed, but trust in the Lord, rely on your God.

Lord, you are the one who protects me and gives me strength; you help me in times of trouble. Nations will come to you from the ends of the earth and say, “Our ancestors had nothing but false gods, nothing but useless idols.

Do not be a terror to me; you are my place of safety when trouble comes.

“I, the Lord, the God of Israel, consider that the people who were taken away to Babylonia are like these good figs, and I will treat them with kindness.

the shouts of gladness and joy and the happy sounds of wedding feasts. You will hear people sing as they bring thank offerings to my Temple; they will say, ‘Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, because he is good and his love is eternal.’ I will make this land as prosperous as it was before. I, the Lord, have spoken.”

The Lord is good to everyone who trusts in him,

The king said, “Praise the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel and rescued these men who serve and trust him. They disobeyed my orders and risked their lives rather than bow down and worship any god except their own.

The king was overjoyed and gave orders for Daniel to be pulled up out of the pit. So they pulled him up and saw that he had not been hurt at all, for he trusted God.

The Lord roars from Mount Zion; his voice thunders from Jerusalem; earth and sky tremble. But he will defend his people.

I will leave there a humble and lowly people, who will come to me for help.

He trusts in God and claims to be God's Son. Well, then, let us see if God wants to save him now!”

Then I will say to them, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!’

I am the good shepherd. As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me. And I am willing to die for them.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

Here we see how kind and how severe God is. He is severe toward those who have fallen, but kind to you—if you continue in his kindness. But if you do not, you too will be broken off.

But now that you know God—or, I should say, now that God knows you—how is it that you want to turn back to those weak and pitiful ruling spirits? Why do you want to become their slaves all over again?

But the solid foundation that God has laid cannot be shaken; and on it are written these words: “The Lord knows those who are his” and “Those who say that they belong to the Lord must turn away from wrongdoing.”
