for God will judge you in the same way you judge others, and he will apply to you the same rules you apply to others.

They answered, “Saul wanted to destroy us and leave none of us alive anywhere in Israel.

He loved to curse—may he be cursed! He hated to give blessings—may no one bless him!

Our enemies are doomed! They have robbed and betrayed, although no one has robbed them or betrayed them. But their time to rob and betray will end, and they themselves will become victims of robbery and treachery.

So now, I, the Lord, say that you have disobeyed me; you have not given all Israelites their freedom. Very well, then, I will give you freedom: the freedom to die by war, disease, and starvation. I will make every nation in the world horrified at what I do to you.

The Lord says, “You will see me repay Babylonia and its people for all the evil they did to Jerusalem.

“The day is near when I, the Lord, will judge all nations. Edom, what you have done will be done to you. You will get back what you have given.

“If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you.

He also said to them, “Pay attention to what you hear! The same rules you use to judge others will be used by God to judge you—but with even greater severity.

Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands—all that you can hold. The measure you use for others is the one that God will use for you.”

Remember that the person who plants few seeds will have a small crop; the one who plants many seeds will have a large crop.

For God will not show mercy when he judges the person who has not been merciful; but mercy triumphs over judgment.

Treat her exactly as she has treated you; pay her back double for all she has done. Fill her cup with a drink twice as strong as the drink she prepared for you.

Adonibezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have picked up scraps under my table. God has now done to me what I did to them.” He was taken to Jerusalem, where he died.
