Jesus said to them, “Come with me, and I will teach you to catch people.”

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you want to come with me, you must forget yourself, carry your cross, and follow me.

Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven; then come and follow me.”

As Jesus walked along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw two brothers who were fishermen, Simon (called Peter) and his brother Andrew, catching fish in the lake with a net.

At once they left their nets and went with him.

“Follow me,” Jesus answered, “and let the dead bury their own dead.”

Jesus left that place, and as he walked along, he saw a tax collector, named Matthew, sitting in his office. He said to him, “Follow me.” Matthew got up and followed him.

As he walked along, he saw a tax collector, Levi son of Alphaeus, sitting in his office. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.” Levi got up and followed him.

After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting in his office. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.”

He said to another man, “Follow me.” But that man said, “Sir, first let me go back and bury my father.”

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Come with me!” (

Whoever wants to serve me must follow me, so that my servant will be with me where I am. And my Father will honor anyone who serves me.

Jesus answered him, “If I want him to live until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!”

You will agree, then, that I was not a burden to you. But someone will say that I was tricky, and trapped you with lies.
