The king answered, “You are lazy and don't want to work, and that is why you ask me to let you go and offer sacrifices to the Lord.

I have also learned why people work so hard to succeed: it is because they envy the things their neighbors have. But it is useless. It is like chasing the wind.

You say to yourselves, “We can hardly wait for the holy days to be over so that we can sell our grain. When will the Sabbath end, so that we can start selling again? Then we can overcharge, use false measures, and fix the scales to cheat our customers.

You say, ‘How tired we are of all this!’ and you turn up your nose at me. As your offering to me you bring a stolen animal or one that is lame or sick. Do you think I will accept that from you?

When the other ten disciples heard about this, they became angry with the two brothers.

While Jesus was eating, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar filled with an expensive perfume, which she poured on his head.

“This perfume could have been sold for a large amount and the money given to the poor!”

Some of the people there became angry and said to one another, “What was the use of wasting the perfume?
