Matthew 26:18

Good News Translation

“Go to a certain man in the city,” he said to them, “and tell him: ‘The Teacher says, My hour has come; my disciples and I will celebrate the Passover at your house.’”

And if anyone says anything, tell him, ‘The Master needs them’; and then he will let them go at once.”

Nor should you be called ‘Leader,’ because your one and only leader is the Messiah.

You must not be called ‘Teacher,’ because you are all equal and have only one Teacher.

The disciples did as Jesus had told them and prepared the Passover meal.

“In two days, as you know, it will be the Passover Festival, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”

Judas went straight to Jesus and said, “Peace be with you, Teacher,” and kissed him.

While Jesus was saying this, some messengers came from Jairus' house and told him, “Your daughter has died. Why bother the Teacher any longer?”

I was with you in the Temple every day, and you did not try to arrest me. But this is your hour to act, when the power of darkness rules.”

After Martha said this, she went back and called her sister Mary privately. “The Teacher is here,” she told her, “and is asking for you.”

Jesus answered them, “The hour has now come for the Son of Man to receive great glory.

It was now the day before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. He had always loved those in the world who were his own, and he loved them to the very end.

After Jesus finished saying this, he looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your Son, so that the Son may give glory to you.

Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned toward him and said in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (This means “Teacher.”)

Then they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.

Jesus said to them, “The right time for me has not yet come. Any time is right for you.

You go on to the festival. I am not going to this festival, because the right time has not come for me.”
