Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be famines and earthquakes everywhere.

One nation oppressed another nation, and one city oppressed another city, because God was bringing trouble and distress on them.

The Lord says, “I will stir up civil war in Egypt and turn brother against brother and neighbor against neighbor. Rival cities will fight each other, and rival kings will struggle for power.

the Lord Almighty will rescue you with violent thunderstorms and earthquakes. He will send windstorms and raging fire;

This is what the Sovereign Lord is saying: “I will send my four worst punishments on Jerusalem—war, famine, wild animals, and disease—to destroy people and animals alike.

Ruin, ruin! Yes, I will make the city a ruin. But this will not happen until the one comes whom I have chosen to punish the city. To him I will give it.

At that time the Lord will make them so confused and afraid that everyone will seize the man next to him and attack him.

There will be terrible earthquakes, famines, and plagues everywhere; there will be strange and terrifying things coming from the sky.

One of them, named Agabus, stood up and by the power of the Spirit predicted that a severe famine was about to come over all the earth. (It came when Claudius was emperor.)

I will perform miracles in the sky above and wonders on the earth below. There will be blood, fire, and thick smoke;

The words “once more” plainly show that the created things will be shaken and removed, so that the things that cannot be shaken will remain.

And I saw the Lamb break open the sixth seal. There was a violent earthquake, and the sun became black like coarse black cloth, and the moon turned completely red like blood.

Then the Lamb broke open the third seal; and I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there was a black horse. Its rider held a pair of scales in his hand.

I heard what sounded like a voice coming from among the four living creatures, which said, “A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages. But do not damage the olive trees and the vineyards!”

I looked, and there was a pale-colored horse. Its rider was named Death, and Hades followed close behind. They were given authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill by means of war, famine, disease, and wild animals.
