Matthew 21:11

and made his home in a town named Nazareth. And so what the prophets had said came true: “He will be called a Nazarene.”

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was thrown into an uproar. “Who is he?” the people asked.

But if we say, ‘From human beings,’ we are afraid of what the people might do, because they are all convinced that John was a prophet.”

so they tried to arrest him. But they were afraid of the crowds, who considered Jesus to be a prophet.

Others, however, said, “He is Elijah.” Others said, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of long ago.”

Yet I must be on my way today, tomorrow, and the next day; it is not right for a prophet to be killed anywhere except in Jerusalem.

“What things?” he asked. “The things that happened to Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered. “This man was a prophet and was considered by God and by all the people to be powerful in everything he said and did.

They all were filled with fear and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us!” they said; “God has come to save his people!”

When the Pharisee saw this, he said to himself, “If this man really were a prophet, he would know who this woman is who is touching him; he would know what kind of sinful life she lives!”

“Who are you, then?” they asked. “Are you Elijah?” “No, I am not,” John answered. “Are you the Prophet?” they asked. “No,” he replied.

then asked John, “If you are not the Messiah nor Elijah nor the Prophet, why do you baptize?”

“I see you are a prophet, sir,” the woman said.

Seeing this miracle that Jesus had performed, the people there said, “Surely this is the Prophet who was to come into the world!”

Some of the people in the crowd heard him say this and said, “This man is really the Prophet!”

So the Pharisees asked the man once more, “You say he cured you of your blindness—well, what do you say about him?” “He is a prophet,” the man answered.

Moses is the one who said to the people of Israel, ‘God will send you a prophet, just as he sent me, and he will be one of your own people.’
