“What do you want?” Jesus asked her. She answered, “Promise me that these two sons of mine will sit at your right and your left when you are King.”

So Bathsheba went to the king to speak to him on behalf of Adonijah. The king stood up to greet his mother and bowed to her. Then he sat on his throne and had another one brought in on which she sat at his right.

That night the Lord appeared to him in a dream and asked him, “What would you like me to give you?”

“What is it, Queen Esther?” the king asked. “Tell me what you want, and you shall have it—even if it is half my empire.”

The Lord said to my lord, “Sit here at my right side until I put your enemies under your feet.”

Among the women of your court are daughters of kings, and at the right of your throne stands the queen, wearing ornaments of finest gold.

Are you looking for special treatment for yourself? Don't do it. I am bringing disaster on all people, but you will at least escape with your life, wherever you go. I, the Lord, have spoken.”

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, asking, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?”

Jesus said to them, “You can be sure that when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne in the New Age, then you twelve followers of mine will also sit on thrones, to rule the twelve tribes of Israel.

“You don't know what you are asking for,” Jesus answered the sons. “Can you drink the cup of suffering that I am about to drink?” “We can,” they answered.

Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked them.

“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. “Teacher,” the blind man answered, “I want to see again.”

After the Lord Jesus had talked with them, he was taken up to heaven and sat at the right side of God.

The daughter of Herodias came in and danced, and pleased Herod and his guests. So the king said to the girl, “What would you like to have? I will give you anything you want.”

“What do you want me to do for you?” “Sir,” he answered, “I want to see again.”

While the people were listening to this, Jesus continued and told them a parable. He was now almost at Jerusalem, and they supposed that the Kingdom of God was just about to appear.

An argument broke out among the disciples as to which one of them should be thought of as the greatest.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it.

When the apostles met together with Jesus, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time give the Kingdom back to Israel?”

Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another.

Who, then, will condemn them? Not Christ Jesus, who died, or rather, who was raised to life and is at the right side of God, pleading with him for us!

You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God.
