“Respect your father and your mother, so that you may live a long time in the land that I am giving you.

If you make fun of your father or despise your mother in her old age, you ought to be eaten by vultures or have your eyes picked out by wild ravens.

Do not take revenge on others or continue to hate them, but love your neighbors as you love yourself. I am the Lord.

Each of you must respect your mother and your father, and must keep the Sabbath, as I have commanded. I am the Lord your God.

“I have obeyed all these commandments,” the young man replied. “What else do I need to do?”

The second most important commandment is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your friends, hate your enemies.’

The man answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind’; and ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’”

The commandments, “Do not commit adultery; do not commit murder; do not steal; do not desire what belongs to someone else”—all these, and any others besides, are summed up in the one command, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”

For the whole Law is summed up in one commandment: “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”

“‘Respect your father and your mother, as I, the Lord your God, command you, so that all may go well with you and so that you may live a long time in the land that I am giving you.

You will be doing the right thing if you obey the law of the Kingdom, which is found in the scripture, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”
