Matthew 15:32

Good News Translation

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I feel sorry for these people, because they have been with me for three days and now have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away without feeding them, for they might faint on their way home.”

Another time, a man came from Baal Shalishah, bringing Elisha twenty loaves of bread made from the first barley harvested that year, and some freshly-cut heads of grain. Elisha told his servant to feed the group of prophets with this,

In the same way that Jonah spent three days and nights in the big fish, so will the Son of Man spend three days and nights in the depths of the earth.

When Jesus heard the news about John, he left there in a boat and went to a lonely place by himself. The people heard about it, and so they left their towns and followed him by land.

The disciples asked him, “Where will we find enough food in this desert to feed this crowd?”

Jesus had pity on them and touched their eyes; at once they were able to see, and they followed him.

and said, “Sir, we remember that while that liar was still alive he said, ‘I will be raised to life three days later.’

As he saw the crowds, his heart was filled with pity for them, because they were worried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

“Many times the evil spirit has tried to kill him by throwing him in the fire and into water. Have pity on us and help us, if you possibly can!”

When the Lord saw her, his heart was filled with pity for her, and he said to her, “Don't cry.”

Just before dawn, Paul begged them all to eat some food: “You have been waiting for fourteen days now, and all this time you have not eaten a thing.

Our High Priest is not one who cannot feel sympathy for our weaknesses. On the contrary, we have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin.
