Matthew 14:19

Good News Translation

He ordered the people to sit down on the grass; then he took the five loaves and the two fish, looked up to heaven, and gave thanks to God. He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

“Then bring them here to me,” Jesus said.

Jesus then told his disciples to make all the people divide into groups and sit down on the green grass.

Then Jesus took the five loaves and the two fish, looked up to heaven, and gave thanks to God. He broke the loaves and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.

Then Jesus looked up to heaven, gave a deep groan, and said to the man, “Ephphatha,” which means, “Open up!”

After saying this, Paul took some bread, gave thanks to God before them all, broke it, and began to eat.

Those who think highly of a certain day do so in honor of the Lord; those who will eat anything do so in honor of the Lord, because they give thanks to God for the food. Those who refuse to eat certain things do so in honor of the Lord, and they give thanks to God.

The cup we use in the Lord's Supper and for which we give thanks to God: when we drink from it, we are sharing in the blood of Christ. And the bread we break: when we eat it, we are sharing in the body of Christ.

Well, whatever you do, whether you eat or drink, do it all for God's glory.

Everything you do or say, then, should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks through him to God the Father.
