He looked at the people sitting around him and said, “Look! Here are my mother and my brothers!
I will tell my people what you have done; I will praise you in their assembly:
“Do not be afraid,” Jesus said to them. “Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”
Jesus answered, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?”
He was greatly surprised, because the people did not have faith. Then Jesus went to the villages around there, teaching the people.
“Do not hold on to me,” Jesus told her, “because I have not yet gone back up to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them that I am returning to him who is my Father and their Father, my God and their God.”
Those whom God had already chosen he also set apart to become like his Son, so that the Son would be the first among many believers.
