“But what crime has he committed?” Pilate asked. They shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”

Those who hate me for no reason are more numerous than the hairs of my head. My enemies tell lies against me; they are strong and want to kill me. They made me give back things I did not steal.

We despised him and rejected him; he endured suffering and pain. No one would even look at him— we ignored him as if he were nothing.

He was placed in a grave with those who are evil, he was buried with the rich, even though he had never committed a crime or ever told a lie.”

While Pilate was sitting in the judgment hall, his wife sent him a message: “Have nothing to do with that innocent man, because in a dream last night I suffered much on account of him.”

“I have sinned by betraying an innocent man to death!” he said. “What do we care about that?” they answered. “That is your business!”

When the army officer and the soldiers with him who were watching Jesus saw the earthquake and everything else that happened, they were terrified and said, “He really was the Son of God!”

They shouted back, “Crucify him!”

Pilate wanted to please the crowd, so he set Barabbas free for them. Then he had Jesus whipped and handed him over to be crucified.

But they shouted back, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”

Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no reason to condemn this man.”

Ours, however, is only right, because we are getting what we deserve for what we did; but he has done no wrong.”

The army officer saw what had happened, and he praised God, saying, “Certainly he was a good man!”

“And what is truth?” Pilate asked. Then Pilate went back outside to the people and said to them, “I cannot find any reason to condemn him.

When the chief priests and the Temple guards saw him, they shouted, “Crucify him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “You take him, then, and crucify him. I find no reason to condemn him.”

And even though they could find no reason to pass the death sentence on him, they asked Pilate to have him put to death.

But when they recognized that he was a Jew, they all shouted together the same thing for two hours: “Great is Artemis of Ephesus!”

Jesus, then, is the High Priest that meets our needs. He is holy; he has no fault or sin in him; he has been set apart from sinners and raised above the heavens.

it was the costly sacrifice of Christ, who was like a lamb without defect or flaw.
