Good News Translation

On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the day the lambs for the Passover meal were killed, Jesus' disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and get the Passover meal ready for you?”

From the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month to the evening of the twenty-first day, you must not eat any bread made with yeast.

Then, on the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, the whole community of Israel will kill the animals.

That night the meat is to be roasted, and eaten with bitter herbs and with bread made without yeast.

Moses said to the people, “Remember this day—the day on which you left Egypt, the place where you were slaves. This is the day the Lord brought you out by his great power. No leavened bread is to be eaten.

But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so for now. For in this way we shall do all that God requires.” So John agreed.

It was now two days before the Festival of Passover and Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the teachers of the Law were looking for a way to arrest Jesus secretly and put him to death.

They were pleased to hear what he had to say, and promised to give him money. So Judas started looking for a good chance to hand Jesus over to them.

Then Jesus sent two of them with these instructions: “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him

But when the right time finally came, God sent his own Son. He came as the son of a human mother and lived under the Jewish Law,

“Slaughter the Passover animals at the one place of worship—and nowhere else in the land that the Lord your God will give you. Do it at sunset, the time of day when you left Egypt.
