“Mortal man,” he said, “tell the Israelites a parable

He agreed to pay them the regular wage, a silver coin a day, and sent them to work in his vineyard.

Jesus, however, was aware of their evil plan, and so he said, “You hypocrites! Why are you trying to trap me?

Some Pharisees came to him and tried to trap him. “Tell us,” they asked, “does our Law allow a man to divorce his wife?”

They came to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you tell the truth, without worrying about what people think. You pay no attention to anyone's status, but teach the truth about God's will for people. Tell us, is it against our Law to pay taxes to the Roman Emperor? Should we pay them or not?”

They brought him one, and he asked, “Whose face and name are these?” “The Emperor's,” they answered.

But Jesus saw through their trick and said to them,

A third time Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter became sad because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” and so he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you!” Jesus said to him, “Take care of my sheep.

They said this to trap Jesus, so that they could accuse him. But he bent over and wrote on the ground with his finger.

So Peter said to her, “Why did you and your husband decide to put the Lord's Spirit to the test? The men who buried your husband are at the door right now, and they will carry you out too!”

We must not put the Lord to the test, as some of them did—and they were killed by snakes.

There is nothing that can be hid from God; everything in all creation is exposed and lies open before his eyes. And it is to him that we must all give an account of ourselves.

I will also kill her followers, and then all the churches will know that I am the one who knows everyone's thoughts and wishes. I will repay each of you according to what you have done.
