They treat me with disgust; they think they are too good for me, and even come and spit in my face.

because you protect me from the power of death. I have served you faithfully, and you will not abandon me to the world of the dead.

Some of them began to spit on Jesus, and they blindfolded him and hit him. “Guess who hit you!” they said. And the guards took him and slapped him.

because he was teaching his disciples: “The Son of Man will be handed over to those who will kill him. Three days later, however, he will rise to life.”

Herod and his soldiers made fun of Jesus and treated him with contempt; then they put a fine robe on him and sent him back to Pilate.

God gave the Law through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

and said to him, “Everyone else serves the best wine first, and after the guests have drunk a lot, he serves the ordinary wine. But you have kept the best wine until now!”

that he was buried and that he was raised to life three days later, as written in the Scriptures;
