Some Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what our Law says you cannot do on the Sabbath?”

When the Pharisees saw this, they said to Jesus, “Look, it is against our Law for your disciples to do this on the Sabbath!”

“Why is it that your disciples disobey the teaching handed down by our ancestors? They don't wash their hands in the proper way before they eat!”

So the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look, it is against our Law for your disciples to do that on the Sabbath!”

Some people said to Jesus, “The disciples of John fast frequently and offer prayers, and the disciples of the Pharisees do the same; but your disciples eat and drink.”

So they began to persecute Jesus, because he had done this healing on a Sabbath.
