At that time Jesus went up a hill to pray and spent the whole night there praying to God.

During the day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer; I call at night, but get no rest.

At night I long for you with all my heart; when you judge the earth and its people, they will all learn what justice is.

When Daniel learned that the order had been signed, he went home. In an upstairs room of his house there were windows that faced toward Jerusalem. There, just as he had always done, he knelt down at the open windows and prayed to God three times a day.

Jesus saw the crowds and went up a hill, where he sat down. His disciples gathered around him,

But when you pray, go to your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.

Very early the next morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and left the house. He went out of town to a lonely place, where he prayed.

Then Jesus went up a hill and called to himself the men he wanted. They came to him,

After saying good-bye to the people, he went away to a hill to pray.

But he would go away to lonely places, where he prayed.

They were filled with rage and began to discuss among themselves what they could do to Jesus.

When Jesus had come down from the hill with the apostles, he stood on a level place with a large number of his disciples. A large crowd of people was there from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and from the coast cities of Tyre and Sidon;

One day when Jesus was praying alone, the disciples came to him. “Who do the crowds say I am?” he asked them.

About a week after he had said these things, Jesus took Peter, John, and James with him and went up a hill to pray.

While he was praying, his face changed its appearance, and his clothes became dazzling white.

Jesus went up a hill and sat down with his disciples.

Be persistent in prayer, and keep alert as you pray, giving thanks to God.

In his life on earth Jesus made his prayers and requests with loud cries and tears to God, who could save him from death. Because he was humble and devoted, God heard him.

“I am sorry that I made Saul king; he has turned away from me and disobeyed my commands.” Samuel was angry, and all night long he pleaded with the Lord.
