Luke 2:51

Good News Translation

So Jesus went back with them to Nazareth, where he was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart.

Joseph's brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept thinking about the whole matter.

I keep your law in my heart, so that I will not sin against you.

This is the end of the account. I was so frightened that I turned pale, and I kept everything to myself.

Jesus was still talking to the people when his mother and brothers arrived. They stood outside, asking to speak with him.

But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so for now. For in this way we shall do all that God requires.” So John agreed.

Not long afterward Jesus came from Nazareth in the province of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Isn't he the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon? Aren't his sisters living here?” And so they rejected him.

“Jesus of Nazareth is passing by,” they told him.

Mary remembered all these things and thought deeply about them.

When Joseph and Mary had finished doing all that was required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to their hometown of Nazareth in Galilee.

Then Jesus went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath he went as usual to the synagogue. He stood up to read the Scriptures

He said to them, “I am sure that you will quote this proverb to me, ‘Doctor, heal yourself.’ You will also tell me to do here in my hometown the same things you heard were done in Capernaum.

Submit yourselves to one another because of your reverence for Christ.

It was to this that God called you, for Christ himself suffered for you and left you an example, so that you would follow in his steps.
