Luke 14:21

Good News Translation

The servant went back and told all this to his master. The master was furious and said to his servant, ‘Hurry out to the streets and alleys of the town, and bring back the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’

and bow down to him; or else his anger will be quickly aroused, and you will suddenly die. Happy are all who go to him for protection.

I am burning with fever and I am near death.

The lame will leap and dance, and those who cannot speak will shout for joy. Streams of water will flow through the desert;

People of Jerusalem, run through your streets! Look around! See for yourselves! Search the marketplaces! Can you find one person who does what is right and tries to be faithful to God? If you can, the Lord will forgive Jerusalem.

So the covenant was canceled on that day. Those who bought and sold the sheep were watching me, and they knew that the Lord was speaking through what I did.

Those who bought and sold the sheep hired me, and I became the shepherd of the sheep that were going to be butchered. I took two sticks: one I called “Favor” and the other “Unity.” And I took care of the flock.

the blind can see, the lame can walk, those who suffer from dreaded skin diseases are made clean, the deaf hear, the dead are brought back to life, and the Good News is preached to the poor.

Then the disciples came to him and said, “Do you know that the Pharisees had their feelings hurt by what you said?”

When the other servants saw what had happened, they were very upset and went to the king and told him everything.

‘No one hired us,’ they answered. ‘Well, then, you go and work in the vineyard,’ he told them.

When you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind;

Another one said, ‘I have just gotten married, and for that reason I cannot come.’

Soon the servant said, ‘Your order has been carried out, sir, but there is room for more.’

I tell you all that none of those who were invited will taste my dinner!’”

and in his name the message about repentance and the forgiveness of sins must be preached to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.

The apostles came back and told Jesus everything they had done. He took them with him, and they went off by themselves to a town named Bethsaida.

Jesus said, “I came to this world to judge, so that the blind should see and those who see should become blind.”

Obey your leaders and follow their orders. They watch over your souls without resting, since they must give to God an account of their service. If you obey them, they will do their work gladly; if not, they will do it with sadness, and that would be of no help to you.

How, then, shall we escape if we pay no attention to such a great salvation? The Lord himself first announced this salvation, and those who heard him proved to us that it is true.

Listen, my dear friends! God chose the poor people of this world to be rich in faith and to possess the kingdom which he promised to those who love him.

Out of his mouth came a sharp sword, with which he will defeat the nations. He will rule over them with a rod of iron, and he will trample out the wine in the wine press of the furious anger of the Almighty God.

The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!” Everyone who hears this must also say, “Come!” Come, whoever is thirsty; accept the water of life as a gift, whoever wants it.

He lifts the poor from the dust and raises the needy from their misery. He makes them companions of princes and puts them in places of honor. The foundations of the earth belong to the Lord; on them he has built the world.

David's men went back to him and told him what Nabal had said.
