Leviticus 3:2

Good News Translation

You shall put your hand on the head of the animal and kill it at the entrance of the Tent of the Lord's presence. The Aaronite priests shall throw the blood against all four sides of the altar

“Bring the bull to the front of the Tent of my presence and tell Aaron and his sons to put their hands on its head.

Kill the bull there in my holy presence at the entrance of the Tent.

“Take one of the rams and tell Aaron and his sons to put their hands on its head.

Kill it, and take its blood and throw it against all four sides of the altar.

“Take the other ram—the ram used for dedication—and tell Aaron and his sons to put their hands on its head.

All of us were like sheep that were lost, each of us going his own way. But the Lord made the punishment fall on him, the punishment all of us deserved.

You shall kill it on the north side of the altar, and the priests shall throw its blood on all four sides of the altar.

Any Israelites who kill a cow or a sheep or a goat as an offering to the Lord anywhere except at the entrance of the Tent of the Lord's presence have broken the Law. They have shed blood and shall no longer be considered God's people.

and present the following parts of the animal as a food offering to the Lord: all the fat on the internal organs,

you shall put your hand on its head and kill it in front of the Tent. The priests shall throw its blood against all four sides of the altar

Then Moses brought the second ram, which was for the ordination of priests, and Aaron and his sons put their hands on its head.

“I will fill the descendants of David and the other people of Jerusalem with the spirit of mercy and the spirit of prayer. They will look at the one whom they stabbed to death, and they will mourn for him like those who mourn for an only child. They will mourn bitterly, like those who have lost their first-born son.

But the first-born of cows, sheep, and goats are not to be bought back; they belong completely to me and are to be sacrificed. Throw their blood against the altar and burn their fat as a food offering, an odor pleasing to me.

You killed the one who leads to life, but God raised him from death—and we are witnesses to this.

And so God chose his Servant and sent him to you first, to bless you by making every one of you turn away from your wicked ways.”

Christ was without sin, but for our sake God made him share our sin in order that in union with him we might share the righteousness of God.
