Jude 1:3

Good News Translation

My dear friends, I was doing my best to write to you about the salvation we share in common, when I felt the need of writing at once to encourage you to fight on for the faith which once and for all God has given to his people.

and explaining the Scriptures, and proving from them that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from death. “This Jesus whom I announce to you,” Paul said, “is the Messiah.”

For with his strong arguments he defeated the Jews in public debates by proving from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Messiah.

For I have not held back from announcing to you the whole purpose of God.

And Paul concluded: “You are to know, then, that God's message of salvation has been sent to the Gentiles. They will listen!”

Salvation is to be found through him alone; in all the world there is no one else whom God has given who can save us.”

And so the word of God continued to spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem grew larger and larger, and a great number of priests accepted the faith.

Ananias answered, “Lord, many people have told me about this man and about all the terrible things he has done to your people in Jerusalem.

But Saul's preaching became even more powerful, and his proofs that Jesus was the Messiah were so convincing that the Jews who lived in Damascus could not answer him.

I passed on to you what I received, which is of the greatest importance: that Christ died for our sins, as written in the Scriptures;

but in order to keep the truth of the gospel safe for you, we did not give in to them for a minute.

So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free people, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus.

From Paul, who by God's will is an apostle of Christ Jesus— To God's people in Ephesus, who are faithful in their life in union with Christ Jesus:

And so, by doing what the Lord requires, you will not be held responsible for the murder.

To God's people in Colossae, who are our faithful friends in union with Christ: May God our Father give you grace and peace.

You know how we had already been mistreated and insulted in Philippi before we came to you in Thessalonica. And even though there was much opposition, our God gave us courage to tell you the Good News that comes from him.

Timothy, my child, I entrust to you this command, which is in accordance with the words of prophecy spoken in the past about you. Use those words as weapons in order to fight well,

Run your best in the race of faith, and win eternal life for yourself; for it was to this life that God called you when you firmly professed your faith before many witnesses.

Hold firmly to the true words that I taught you, as the example for you to follow, and remain in the faith and love that are ours in union with Christ Jesus.

I write to Titus, my true son in the faith that we have in common. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior give you grace and peace.

I beg you, my friends, to listen patiently to this message of encouragement; for this letter I have written you is not very long.

But even if we speak like this, dear friends, we feel sure about you. We know that you have the better blessings that belong to your salvation.

I write you this brief letter with the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful Christian. I want to encourage you and give my testimony that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.

From Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ— To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have been given a faith as precious as ours:

It would have been much better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than to know it and then turn away from the sacred command that was given them.

From Jude, servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James— To those who have been called by God, who live in the love of God the Father and the protection of Jesus Christ:

But remember, my friends, what you were told in the past by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But you, my friends, keep on building yourselves up on your most sacred faith. Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,

They won the victory over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the truth which they proclaimed; and they were willing to give up their lives and die.

Don't be afraid of anything you are about to suffer. Listen! The Devil will put you to the test by having some of you thrown into prison, and your troubles will last ten days. Be faithful to me, even if it means death, and I will give you life as your prize of victory.
