John 6:71

Good News Translation

He was talking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. For Judas, even though he was one of the twelve disciples, was going to betray him.

Even my best friend, the one I trusted most, the one who shared my food, has turned against me.

These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee;

Simon the Patriot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus.

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went off to the chief priests in order to betray Jesus to them.

One of Jesus' disciples, Judas Iscariot—the one who was going to betray him—said,

Jesus and his disciples were at supper. The Devil had already put into the heart of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, the thought of betraying Jesus.

Jesus answered, “I will dip some bread in the sauce and give it to him; he is the man.” So he took a piece of bread, dipped it, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.

One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (called the Twin), was not with them when Jesus came.

Yet some of you do not believe.” (Jesus knew from the very beginning who were the ones that would not believe and which one would betray him.)

Jesus replied, “I chose the twelve of you, didn't I? Yet one of you is a devil!”

In accordance with his own plan God had already decided that Jesus would be handed over to you; and you killed him by letting sinful men crucify him.

For some godless people have slipped in unnoticed among us, persons who distort the message about the grace of our God in order to excuse their immoral ways, and who reject Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord. Long ago the Scriptures predicted the condemnation they have received.
