Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired out by the trip, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

At noon the whole country was covered with darkness, which lasted for three hours.

After spending forty days and nights without food, Jesus was hungry.

Suddenly a fierce storm hit the lake, and the boat was in danger of sinking. But Jesus was asleep.

She gave birth to her first son, wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manger—there was no room for them to stay in the inn.

A Samaritan woman came to draw some water, and Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink of water.” (

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; rich as he was, he made himself poor for your sake, in order to make you rich by means of his poverty.

This means that he had to become like his people in every way, in order to be their faithful and merciful High Priest in his service to God, so that the people's sins would be forgiven.

Our High Priest is not one who cannot feel sympathy for our weaknesses. On the contrary, we have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin.
