“Teacher,” answered Nathanael, “you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”

The Lord said to my lord, “Sit here at my right side until I put your enemies under your feet.”

“On Zion, my sacred hill,” he says, “I have installed my king.”

His royal power will continue to grow; his kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as King David's successor, basing his power on right and justice, from now until the end of time. The Lord Almighty is determined to do all this.

Note this and understand it: From the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until God's chosen leader comes, seven times seven years will pass. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, and will stand for seven times sixty-two years, but this will be a time of troubles.

But the time will come when the people of Israel will once again turn to the Lord their God and to a descendant of David their king. Then they will fear the Lord and will receive his good gifts.

The Lord says, “Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are one of the smallest towns in Judah, but out of you I will bring a ruler for Israel, whose family line goes back to ancient times.”

The Lord has stopped your punishment; he has removed all your enemies. The Lord, the king of Israel, is with you; there is no reason now to be afraid.

Rejoice, rejoice, people of Zion! Shout for joy, you people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you! He comes triumphant and victorious, but humble and riding on a donkey— on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Then the disciples in the boat worshiped Jesus. “Truly you are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.

and asked, “Where is the baby born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star when it came up in the east, and we have come to worship him.”

“Tell the city of Zion, Look, your king is coming to you! He is humble and rides on a donkey and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to have people call them ‘Teacher.’

You must not be called ‘Teacher,’ because you are all equal and have only one Teacher.

Jesus stood before the Roman governor, who questioned him. “Are you the king of the Jews?” he asked. “So you say,” answered Jesus.

“He saved others, but he cannot save himself! Isn't he the king of Israel? If he will come down off the cross now, we will believe in him!

Then the Devil came to him and said, “If you are God's Son, order these stones to turn into bread.”

Let us see the Messiah, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him!” And the two who were crucified with Jesus insulted him also.

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and God's power will rest upon you. For this reason the holy child will be called the Son of God.

“God bless the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory to God!”

No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

I have seen it,” said John, “and I tell you that he is the Son of God.”

Jesus turned, saw them following him, and asked, “What are you looking for?” They answered, “Where do you live, Rabbi?” (This word means “Teacher.”)

Jesus said, “Do you believe just because I told you I saw you when you were under the fig tree? You will see much greater things than this!”

So Pilate asked him, “Are you a king, then?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. I was born and came into the world for this one purpose, to speak about the truth. Whoever belongs to the truth listens to me.”

In the meantime the disciples were begging Jesus, “Teacher, have something to eat!”
