Jeremiah 24:6

Good News Translation

I will watch over them and bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not pull them up.

Sir, you told us to bring him here, so that you could see him,

The Lord keeps close watch over the whole world, to give strength to those whose hearts are loyal to him. You have acted foolishly, and so from now on you will always be at war.”

I pray you, O God, remember to my credit everything that I have done for this people.

The Lord watches over the righteous and listens to their cries;

how you yourself drove out the heathen and established your people in their land; how you punished the other nations and caused your own to prosper.

The Lord will once again be merciful to his people Israel and choose them as his own. He will let them live in their own land again, and foreigners will come and live there with them.

Your people will all do what is right, And will possess the land forever. I planted them, I made them, To reveal my greatness to all.

Today I give you authority over nations and kingdoms to uproot and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”

But after I have taken them away, I will have mercy on them; I will bring each nation back to its own land and to its own country.

Instead, they will swear by me as the living God who brought the people of Israel out of a northern land and out of all the other countries where I had scattered them. I will bring them back to their own country, to the land that I gave their ancestors. I, the Lord, have spoken.”

I have made up my mind not to spare this city, but to destroy it. It will be given over to the king of Babylonia, and he will burn it to the ground. I, the Lord, have spoken.”

I will gather the rest of my people from the countries where I have scattered them, and I will bring them back to their homeland. They will have many children and increase in number.

“The Lord says, ‘When Babylonia's seventy years are over, I will show my concern for you and keep my promise to bring you back home.

And just as I took care to uproot, to pull down, to overthrow, to destroy, and to demolish them, so I will take care to plant them and to build them up.

Once again I will rebuild you. Once again you will take up your tambourines and dance joyfully.

I am going to gather the people from all the countries where I have scattered them in my anger and fury, and I am going to bring them back to this place and let them live here in safety.

I will take pleasure in doing good things for them, and I will establish them permanently in this land.

I will make Judah and Israel prosperous, and I will rebuild them as they were before.

Jerusalem will be a source of joy, honor, and pride to me; and every nation in the world will fear and tremble when they hear about the good things that I do for the people of Jerusalem and about the prosperity that I bring to the city.”

“Go and find Jeremiah and take good care of him. Do not harm him, but do for him whatever he wants.”

‘If you are willing to go on living in this land, then I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not pull you up. The destruction I brought on you has caused me great sorrow.

I will take you from every nation and country and bring you back to your own land.

I will bring my people back to their land. They will rebuild their ruined cities and live there; they will plant vineyards and drink the wine; they will plant gardens and eat what they grow.

The Lord your God takes care of this land and watches over it throughout the year.

For the Lord watches over the righteous and listens to their prayers; but he opposes those who do evil.”
