Good News Translation

The rich people send their servants for water; they go to the cisterns, but find no water; they come back with their jars empty. Discouraged and confused, they hide their faces.

That is why the rains were held back, and the spring showers did not come. You even look like a prostitute; you have no shame.

They let their babies die of hunger and thirst; children are begging for food that no one will give them.

If she does not, I will strip her as naked as she was on the day she was born. I will make her like a dry and barren land, and she will die of thirst.

Even the wild animals cry out to you because the streams have become dry.

I kept it from raining when your crops needed it most. I sent rain on one city, but not on another. Rain fell on one field, but another field dried up.

Weak with thirst, the people of several cities went to a city where they hoped to find water, but there was not enough to drink. Still you did not come back to me.

If any nation refuses to go and worship the Lord Almighty as king, then rain will not fall on their land.
