Good News Translation

But you, Lord, are the true God, you are the living God and the eternal king. When you are angry, the world trembles; the nations cannot endure your anger. (

Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and worshiped the Lord, the Everlasting God.

When the people saw this, they threw themselves on the ground and exclaimed, “The Lord is God; the Lord alone is God!”

And so all the nations of the world will know that the Lord alone is God—there is no other.

You are great and powerful, glorious, splendid, and majestic. Everything in heaven and earth is yours, and you are king, supreme ruler over all.

For a long time Israel lived without the true God, without priests to teach them, and without a law.

The Lord is king forever and ever. Those who worship other gods will vanish from his land.

Acknowledge that the Lord is God. He made us, and we belong to him; we are his people, we are his flock.

He looks at the earth, and it trembles; he touches the mountains, and they pour out smoke.

Tremble, earth, at the Lord's coming, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

Your rule is eternal, and you are king forever. The Lord is faithful to his promises; he is merciful in all his acts.

Then the earth trembled and shook; the foundations of the mountains rocked and quivered, because God was angry.

The Lord rules over the deep waters; he rules as king forever.

The Lord gave the command, and many women carried the news:

How I want to be there! I long to be in the Lord's Temple. With my whole being I sing for joy to the living God.

He rules the world with righteousness; he judges the nations with justice.

Who has felt the full power of your anger? Who knows what fear your fury can bring?

Before you created the hills or brought the world into being, you were eternally God, and will be God forever.

Your throne, O Lord, has been firm from the beginning, and you existed before time began.

His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees it and trembles.

Now, Lord, hear us and look at what is happening to us. Listen to all the things that Sennacherib is saying to insult you, the living God.

The Assyrian emperor has sent his chief official to insult the living God. May the Lord your God hear these insults and punish those who spoke them. So pray to God for those of our people who survive.”

To the Lord the nations are nothing, no more than a drop of water; the distant islands are as light as dust.

Don't you know? Haven't you heard? The Lord is the everlasting God; he created all the world. He never grows tired or weary. No one understands his thoughts.

“I am the high and holy God, who lives forever. I live in a high and holy place, but I also live with people who are humble and repentant, so that I can restore their confidence and hope.

Anyone in the land who asks for a blessing will ask to be blessed by the faithful God. Whoever takes an oath will swear by the name of the faithful God. The troubles of the past will be gone and forgotten.”

So they must no longer use the words ‘the Lord's burden,’ because if any of them do, I will make my message a real burden to them. The people have perverted the words of their God, the living God, the Lord Almighty.

it will be right for you to swear by my name. Then all the nations will ask me to bless them, and they will praise me.”

I looked at the mountains—they were shaking, and the hills were rocking back and forth.

When Babylon falls, there will be such a noise that the entire earth will shake, and the cries of alarm will be heard by the other nations.”

The earth trembles and shakes because the Lord is carrying out his plan to make Babylonia a desert, where no one lives.

“How great are the wonders God shows us! How powerful are the miracles he performs! God is king forever; he will rule for all time.

“When the seven years had passed,” said the king, “I looked up at the sky, and my sanity returned. I praised the Supreme God and gave honor and glory to the one who lives forever. “He will rule forever, and his kingdom will last for all time.

I command that throughout my empire everyone should fear and respect Daniel's God. “He is a living God, and he will rule forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed, and his power will never come to an end.

He saves and rescues; he performs wonders and miracles in heaven and on earth. He saved Daniel from being killed by the lions.”

He was given authority, honor, and royal power, so that the people of all nations, races, and languages would serve him. His authority would last forever, and his kingdom would never end.

The Lord thunders commands to his army. The troops that obey him are many and mighty. How terrible is the day of the Lord! Who will survive it?

Then the mountains will melt under him like wax in a fire; they will pour down into the valleys like water pouring down a hill.

Mountains quake in the presence of the Lord; hills melt before him. The earth shakes when the Lord appears; the world and all its people tremble.

When he is angry, who can survive? Who can survive his terrible fury? He pours out his flaming anger; rocks crumble to dust before him.

When the mountains saw you, they trembled; water poured down from the skies. The waters under the earth roared, and their waves rose high.

When he stops, the earth shakes; at his glance the nations tremble. The eternal mountains are shattered; the everlasting hills sink down, the hills where he walked in ancient times.

But who will be able to endure the day when he comes? Who will be able to survive when he appears? He will be like strong soap, like a fire that refines metal.

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

But Jesus kept quiet. Again the High Priest spoke to him, “In the name of the living God I now put you under oath: tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.”

And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent.

“Why are you doing this? We ourselves are only human beings like you! We are here to announce the Good News, to turn you away from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven, earth, sea, and all that is in them.

“The Lord is your mighty defender, perfect and just in all his ways; Your God is faithful and true; he does what is right and fair.

Has any human being ever lived after hearing the living God speak from a fire?

All those people speak about how you received us when we visited you, and how you turned away from idols to God, to serve the true and living God

To the eternal King, immortal and invisible, the only God—to him be honor and glory forever and ever! Amen.

Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment.

It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

As you advance, he will surely drive out the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Perizzites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites. You will know that the living God is among you

We know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we know the true God. We live in union with the true God—in union with his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and this is eternal life.

Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sits on it. Earth and heaven fled from his presence and were seen no more.

Lord, when you left the mountains of Seir, when you came out of the region of Edom, the earth shook, and rain fell from the sky. Yes, water poured down from the clouds.

David asked the men who were near him, “What will the man get who kills this Philistine and frees Israel from this disgrace? After all, who is this heathen Philistine to defy the army of the living God?”

I have killed lions and bears, and I will do the same to this heathen Philistine, who has defied the army of the living God.
