But they would not obey; they were stubborn like their ancestors, who had not trusted in the Lord their God.

Do not be stubborn as they were, but obey the Lord. Come to the Temple in Jerusalem, which the Lord your God has made holy forever, and worship him so that he will no longer be angry with you.

Zedekiah rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had forced him to swear in God's name that he would be loyal. He stubbornly refused to repent and return to the Lord, the God of Israel.

When peace returned, they sinned again, and again you let their enemies conquer them. Yet when they repented and asked you to save them, in heaven you heard, and time after time you rescued them in your great mercy.

They will not be like their ancestors, a rebellious and disobedient people, whose trust in God was never firm and who did not remain faithful to him.

I know how stubborn these people are.

You are going to a rich and fertile land. But I will not go with you myself, because you are a stubborn people, and I might destroy you on the way.”

For the Lord had commanded Moses to tell them, “You are a stubborn people. If I were to go with you even for a moment, I would completely destroy you. Now take off your jewelry, and I will decide what to do with you.”

The king asked what had happened and was told that none of the animals of the Israelites had died. But he was stubborn and would not let the people go.

If you get more stubborn every time you are corrected, one day you will be crushed and never recover.

They are always rebelling against God, always lying, always refusing to listen to the Lord's teachings.

“Listen to me, you stubborn people who think that victory is far away.

that the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, had said, “I am going to bring on this city and on every nearby town all the punishment that I said I would, because you are stubborn and will not listen to what I say.”

That is why the rains were held back, and the spring showers did not come. You even look like a prostitute; you have no shame.

Surely the Lord looks for faithfulness. He struck you, but you paid no attention; he crushed you, but you refused to learn. You were stubborn and would not turn from your sins.

Yet no one listened or paid any attention. Instead, you became more stubborn and rebellious than your ancestors.

They are stubborn and do not respect me, so I am sending you to tell them what I, the Sovereign Lord, am saying to them.

But because he became proud, stubborn, and cruel, he was removed from his royal throne and lost his place of honor.

“How stubborn you are!” Stephen went on to say. “How heathen your hearts, how deaf you are to God's message! You are just like your ancestors: you too have always resisted the Holy Spirit!

But you have a hard and stubborn heart, and so you are making your own punishment even greater on the Day when God's anger and righteous judgments will be revealed.

So then, from now on be obedient to the Lord and stop being stubborn.

I know how stubborn and rebellious they are. They have rebelled against the Lord during my lifetime, and they will rebel even more after I am dead.

Instead, in order that none of you be deceived by sin and become stubborn, you must help one another every day, as long as the word “Today” in the scripture applies to us.
