Isaiah 44:2

Good News Translation

I am the Lord who created you; from the time you were born, I have helped you. Do not be afraid; you are my servant, my chosen people whom I love.

God is in that city, and it will never be destroyed; at early dawn he will come to its aid.

I have relied on you all my life; you have protected me since the day I was born. I will always praise you.

Come, let us bow down and worship him; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

The branches of the trees are withered and broken, and women gather them for firewood. Because the people have understood nothing, God their Creator will not pity them or show them any mercy.

Do not be afraid—I am with you! I am your God—let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you.

They are my own people, and I created them to bring me glory.”

The Lord says, “Israel, remember this; remember that you are my servant. I created you to be my servant, and I will never forget you.

“I am the Lord, your savior; I am the one who created you. I am the Lord, the Creator of all things. I alone stretched out the heavens; when I made the earth, no one helped me.

The Lord, the holy God of Israel, the one who shapes the future, says: “You have no right to question me about my children or to tell me what I ought to do!

Listen to me, distant nations, you people who live far away! Before I was born, the Lord chose me and appointed me to be his servant.

Before I was born, the Lord appointed me; he made me his servant to bring back his people, to bring back the scattered people of Israel. The Lord gives me honor; he is the source of my strength.

“I chose you before I gave you life, and before you were born I selected you to be a prophet to the nations.”

“My people, do not be afraid; people of Israel, do not be terrified. I will rescue you from that faraway land, from the land where you are prisoners. You will come back home and live in peace; you will be secure, and no one will make you afraid.

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the Kingdom.

And so those whom God set apart, he called; and those he called, he put right with himself, and he shared his glory with them.

Even before the world was made, God had already chosen us to be his through our union with Christ, so that we would be holy and without fault before him. Because of his love

People of Israel, no god is like your God, riding in splendor across the sky, riding through the clouds to come to your aid.

The Lord became king of his people Israel when their tribes and leaders were gathered together.

Our friends, we know that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own.

Let us have confidence, then, and approach God's throne, where there is grace. There we will receive mercy and find grace to help us just when we need it.
