Good News Translation

From head to foot there is not a healthy spot on your body. You are covered with bruises and sores and open wounds. Your wounds have not been cleaned or bandaged. No medicine has been put on them.

There was no one in Israel as famous for his good looks as Absalom; he had no defect from head to toe.

God bandages the wounds he makes; his hand hurts you, and his hand heals.

In times of trouble I pray to the Lord; all night long I lift my hands in prayer, but I cannot find comfort.

The moon will be as bright as the sun, and the sun will be seven times brighter than usual, like the light of seven days in one. This will all happen when the Lord bandages and heals the wounds he has given his people.

“Who can understand the human heart? There is nothing else so deceitful; it is too sick to be healed.

The Lord says to his people, “Your wounds are incurable, your injuries cannot be healed.

Complain no more about your injuries; there is no cure for you. I punished you like this because your sins are many and your wickedness is great.

They act as if my people's wounds were only scratches. ‘All is well,’ they say, when all is not well.

As a well keeps its water fresh, so Jerusalem keeps its evil fresh. I hear violence and destruction in the city; sickness and wounds are all I see.

There is no remedy for your injuries, and your wounds cannot be healed. All those who hear the news of your destruction clap their hands for joy. Did anyone escape your endless cruelty?

But for you who obey me, my saving power will rise on you like the sun and bring healing like the sun's rays. You will be as free and happy as calves let out of a stall.

Jesus heard them and answered, “People who are well do not need a doctor, but only those who are sick.

He went over to him, poured oil and wine on his wounds and bandaged them; then he put the man on his own animal and took him to an inn, where he took care of him.
