God looked at the world and saw that it was evil, for the people were all living evil lives.
Then the Lord said to Abraham, “There are terrible accusations against Sodom and Gomorrah, and their sin is very great.
I must go down to find out whether or not the accusations which I have heard are true.”
God said to Noah, “I have decided to put an end to all people. I will destroy them completely, because the world is full of their violent deeds.
But the Lord was pleased with Noah.
The Lord said to Noah, “Go into the boat with your whole family; I have found that you are the only one in all the world who does what is right.
Every living being on the earth died—every bird, every animal, and every person.
As a sign of this everlasting covenant which I am making with you and with all living beings,
Each one will say in public, “I have sinned. I have not done right, but God spared me.
The Lord sees what happens everywhere; he is watching us, whether we do good or evil.
The whole human race will see God's salvation!’”
God did not spare the ancient world, but brought the flood on the world of godless people; the only ones he saved were Noah, who preached righteousness, and seven other people.
