Genesis 48:9

Good News Translation

Joseph answered, “These are my sons, whom God has given me here in Egypt.” Jacob said, “Bring them to me so that I may bless them.”

Cook me some of that tasty food that I like, and bring it to me. After I have eaten it, I will give you my final blessing before I die.”

So it was that she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, and explained, “I asked the Lord for him.”

I asked him for this child, and he gave me what I asked for.
