Genesis 24:67

Good News Translation

Then Isaac brought Rebecca into the tent that his mother Sarah had lived in, and she became his wife. Isaac loved Rebecca, and so he was comforted for the loss of his mother.

Abraham hurried into the tent and said to Sarah, “Quick, take a sack of your best flour, and bake some bread.”

The servant told Isaac everything he had done.

Abraham married another woman, whose name was Keturah.

Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebecca, the daughter of Bethuel (an Aramean from Mesopotamia) and sister of Laban.

Jacob was in love with Rachel, so he said, “I will work seven years for you, if you will let me marry Rachel.”

All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted and said, “I will go down to the world of the dead still mourning for my son.” So he continued to mourn for his son Joseph.

After some time Judah's wife died. When he had finished the time of mourning, he and his friend Hirah of Adullam went to Timnah, where his sheep were being sheared.

I would take you to my mother's house, where you could teach me love. I would give you spiced wine, my pomegranate wine to drink.

Our friends, we want you to know the truth about those who have died, so that you will not be sad, as are those who have no hope.

What we are teaching you now is the Lord's teaching: we who are alive on the day the Lord comes will not go ahead of those who have died.
