Ephron himself was sitting with the other Hittites at the meeting place at the city gate; he answered in the hearing of everyone there,

“I am a foreigner living here among you; sell me some land, so that I can bury my wife.”

and said, “If you are willing to let me bury my wife here, please ask Ephron son of Zohar

It was the field that Abraham had bought from the Hittites; both Abraham and his wife Sarah were buried there.

Then Jacob commanded his sons, “Now that I am going to join my people in death, bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,

they carried his body to Canaan and buried it in the cave at Machpelah east of Mamre in the field which Abraham had bought from Ephron the Hittite for a burial ground.

David said to him, “Sell me your threshing place, so that I can build an altar to the Lord, to stop the epidemic. I'll give you the full price.”

But the king answered, “No, I will pay you the full price. I will not give as an offering to the Lord something that belongs to you, something that costs me nothing.”

If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong. Try to do what everyone considers to be good.

Be under obligation to no one—the only obligation you have is to love one another. Whoever does this has obeyed the Law.
