If you keep on refusing, then I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow.

So Moses and Aaron went to the king and said to him, “The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says, ‘How much longer will you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

There will be so many that they will completely cover the ground. They will eat everything that the hail did not destroy, even the trees that are left.

I told you to let my son go, so that he might worship me, but you refused. Now I am going to kill your first-born son.’”

Then Moses and Aaron went to the king of Egypt and said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, says, ‘Let my people go, so that they can hold a festival in the desert to honor me.’”

The king answered, “Pray for me tomorrow.” Moses said, “I will do as you ask, and then you will know that there is no other god like the Lord, our God.

I will make a distinction between my people and your people. This miracle will take place tomorrow.’”

This time tomorrow I will cause a heavy hailstorm, such as Egypt has never known in all its history.

I, the Lord, have set tomorrow as the time when I will do this.’”

Locusts: they have no king, but they move in formation.

I will give you back what you lost in the years when swarms of locusts ate your crops. It was I who sent this army against you.

“You will plant plenty of seed, but reap only a small harvest, because the locusts will eat your crops.

Locusts came down out of the smoke upon the earth, and they were given the same kind of power that scorpions have.
