“Condemn to death anyone who offers sacrifices to any god except to me, the Lord.

Treat them as you would an Israelite, and love them as you love yourselves. Remember that you were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

“Because you robbed and killed your relatives, the descendants of Jacob, you will be destroyed and dishonored forever.

So then, show love for those foreigners, because you were once foreigners in Egypt.

“Do not despise the Edomites; they are your relatives. And do not despise the Egyptians; you once lived in their land.

“When you are in camp in time of war, you are to avoid anything that would make you ritually unclean.

The men with David found a young Egyptian out in the country and brought him to David. They gave him some food and water,
