Good News Translation

The officer took him, led him to the commander, and said, “The prisoner Paul called me and asked me to bring this young man to you, because he has something to say to you.”

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

Then Paul called one of the officers and said to him, “Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him.”

The commander took him by the hand, led him off by himself, and asked him, “What do you have to tell me?”

When it was decided that we should sail to Italy, they handed Paul and some other prisoners over to Julius, an officer in the Roman army regiment called “The Emperor's Regiment.”

After three days Paul called the local Jewish leaders to a meeting. When they had gathered, he said to them, “My fellow Israelites, even though I did nothing against our people or the customs that we received from our ancestors, I was made a prisoner in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles, pray to God.

I urge you, then—I who am a prisoner because I serve the Lord: live a life that measures up to the standard God set when he called you.

But because I love you, I make a request instead. I do this even though I am Paul, the ambassador of Christ Jesus, and at present also a prisoner for his sake.
