Good News Translation

Some Jews came from Antioch in Pisidia and from Iconium; they won the crowds over to their side, stoned Paul and dragged him out of the town, thinking that he was dead.

They went on from Perga and arrived in Antioch in Pisidia, and on the Sabbath they went into the synagogue and sat down.

When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy; they disputed what Paul was saying and insulted him.

The same thing happened in Iconium: Paul and Barnabas went to the synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great number of Jews and Gentiles became believers.

Even with these words the apostles could hardly keep the crowd from offering a sacrifice to them.

But the Jews who would not believe stirred up the Gentiles and turned them against the believers.

Paul and Barnabas preached the Good News in Derbe and won many disciples. Then they went back to Lystra, to Iconium, and on to Antioch in Pisidia.

and from there they sailed back to Antioch, the place where they had been commended to the care of God's grace for the work they had now completed.

The people of the city were divided: some were for the Jews, others for the apostles.

Then some Gentiles and Jews, together with their leaders, decided to mistreat the apostles and stone them.

who have risked their lives in the service of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But when the Jews in Thessalonica heard that Paul had preached the word of God in Berea also, they came there and started exciting and stirring up the mobs.

And when your witness Stephen was put to death, I myself was there, approving of his murder and taking care of the cloaks of his murderers.’

And I myself will show him all that he must suffer for my sake.”

My friends, I face death every day! The pride I have in you, in our life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord, makes me declare this.

Are they Christ's servants? I sound like a madman—but I am a better servant than they are! I have worked much harder, I have been in prison more times, I have been whipped much more, and I have been near death more often.

three times I was whipped by the Romans; and once I was stoned. I have been in three shipwrecks, and once I spent twenty-four hours in the water.

In my many travels I have been in danger from floods and from robbers, in danger from my own people and from Gentiles; there have been dangers in the cities, dangers in the wilds, dangers on the high seas, and dangers from false friends.

Our friends, the same things happened to you that happened to the churches of God in Judea, to the people there who belong to Christ Jesus. You suffered the same persecutions from your own people that they suffered from the Jews,

my persecutions, and my sufferings. You know all that happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, the terrible persecutions I endured! But the Lord rescued me from them all.
