Good News Translation

Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and many people were brought to the Lord.

The lookout said, “I can see that the first man runs like Ahimaaz.” “He's a good man,” the king said, “and he is bringing good news.”

Happy is the person who is generous with his loans, who runs his business honestly.

The Lord guides us in the way we should go and protects those who please him.

The Lord is pleased with good people, but condemns those who plan evil.

Good people will have wealth to leave to their grandchildren, but the wealth of sinners will go to the righteous.

Bad people will get what they deserve. Good people will be rewarded for their deeds.

A good person brings good things out of a treasure of good things; a bad person brings bad things out of a treasure of bad things.

“Why do you ask me concerning what is good?” answered Jesus. “There is only One who is good. Keep the commandments if you want to enter life.”

There was a man named Joseph from Arimathea, a town in Judea. He was a good and honorable man, who was waiting for the coming of the Kingdom of God. Although he was a member of the Council, he had not agreed with their decision and action.

There was much whispering about him in the crowd. “He is a good man,” some people said. “No,” others said, “he fools the people.”

The Lord's power was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.

They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in other languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.

praising God, and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.

And so I do my best always to have a clear conscience before God and people.

But more and more people were added to the group—a crowd of men and women who believed in the Lord.

So then, friends, choose seven men among you who are known to be full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, and we will put them in charge of this matter.

The whole group was pleased with the apostles' proposal, so they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a Gentile from Antioch who had earlier been converted to Judaism.

Stephen, a man richly blessed by God and full of power, performed great miracles and wonders among the people.

And so it was that the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had a time of peace. Through the help of the Holy Spirit it was strengthened and grew in numbers, as it lived in reverence for the Lord.

But in this letter I have been quite bold about certain subjects of which I have reminded you. I have been bold because of the privilege God has given me

It is a difficult thing for someone to die for a righteous person. It may even be that someone might dare to die for a good person.
