King Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there a prophet here through whom we can consult the Lord?” An officer of King Joram's forces answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He was Elijah's assistant.”
Then Elisha went to his team of oxen, killed them, and cooked the meat, using the yoke as fuel for the fire. He gave the meat to the people, and they ate it. Then he went and followed Elijah as his helper.
Once more David consulted God, who answered, “Don't attack them from here, but go around and get ready to attack them from the other side, near the balsam trees.
Later on King Zedekiah sent for me, and there in the palace he asked me privately, “Is there any message from the Lord?” “There is,” I answered, and added, “You will be handed over to the king of Babylonia.”
