The bows of strong soldiers are broken, but the weak grow strong.

You give me strength for the battle and victory over my enemies.

but they will be killed by their own swords, and their bows will be smashed.

because the Lord will take away the strength of the wicked, but protect those who are good.

“Stop fighting,” he says, “and know that I am God, supreme among the nations, supreme over the world.”

He stops wars all over the world; he breaks bows, destroys spears, and sets shields on fire.

There he broke the arrows of the enemy, their shields and swords, yes, all their weapons.

You will be killed in battle or dragged off as prisoners. Yet even so the Lord's anger will not be ended; his hand will still be stretched out to punish.

He strengthens those who are weak and tired.

Even if you defeat the whole Babylonian army, so that only wounded men are left, lying in their tents, they would still get up and burn this city to the ground.”

They have come to destroy Babylon; its soldiers are captured, and their bows are broken. I am a God who punishes evil, and I will treat Babylon as it deserves.

But his answer was: “My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ's power over me.

So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate,

I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.

put out fierce fires, escaped being killed by the sword. They were weak, but became strong; they were mighty in battle and defeated the armies of foreigners.
