Saul was afraid of David because the Lord was with David but had abandoned him.

He grew stronger all the time, because the Lord God Almighty was with him.

The Lord blessed Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father's early life and did not worship Baal.

Do not banish me from your presence; do not take your holy spirit away from me.

Herod was afraid of John because he knew that John was a good and holy man, and so he kept him safe. He liked to listen to him, even though he became greatly disturbed every time he heard him.

Then all the people from that territory asked Jesus to go away, because they were terribly afraid. So Jesus got into the boat and left.

But as Paul went on discussing about goodness, self-control, and the coming Day of Judgment, Felix was afraid and said, “You may leave now. I will call you again when I get the chance.”

Samuel did what the Lord told him to do and went to Bethlehem, where the city leaders came trembling to meet him and asked, “Is this a peaceful visit, seer?”

Saul noticed David's success and became even more afraid of him.

Saul's daughter Michal, however, fell in love with David, and when Saul heard of this, he was pleased.

So he became even more afraid of David and was his enemy as long as he lived.

If he intends to harm you, may the Lord strike me dead if I don't let you know about it and get you safely away. May the Lord be with you as he was with my father!

Saul asked him, “Why are you and David plotting against me? Why did you give him some food and a sword, and consult God for him? Now he has turned against me and is waiting for a chance to kill me!”

Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me? Why did you make me come back?” Saul answered, “I am in great trouble! The Philistines are at war with me, and God has abandoned me. He doesn't answer me any more, either by prophets or by dreams. And so I have called you, for you to tell me what I must do.”

As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him and made come true everything that Samuel said.
