1 Samuel 14:47

Good News Translation

After Saul became king of Israel, he fought all his enemies everywhere: the people of Moab, of Ammon, and of Edom, the kings of Zobah, and the Philistines. Wherever he fought he was victorious.

The older daughter had a son, whom she named Moab. He was the ancestor of the present-day Moabites.

The younger daughter also had a son, whom she named Benammi. He was the ancestor of the present-day Ammonites.

These are the descendants of Esau, also called Edom.

All these tribes were descended from Esau.

So Esau lived in the hill country of Edom.

Jonathan's bow was deadly, the sword of Saul was merciless, striking down the mighty, killing the enemy.
