The Lord has made a solemn promise, and he will not abandon you, for he has decided to make you his own people.

May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us or abandon us;

Why should the Egyptians be able to say that you led your people out of Egypt, planning to kill them in the mountains and destroy them completely? Stop being angry; change your mind and do not bring this disaster on your people.

I will defend this city and protect it, for the sake of my own honor and because of the promise I made to my servant David.’”

“When my people in their need look for water, when their throats are dry with thirst, then I, the Lord, will answer their prayer; I, the God of Israel, will never abandon them.

“I will lead my blind people by roads they have never traveled. I will turn their darkness into light and make rough country smooth before them. These are my promises, and I will keep them without fail.

And yet, I am the God who forgives your sins, and I do this because of who I am. I will not hold your sins against you.

So the Lord answers, “Can a woman forget her own baby and not love the child she bore? Even if a mother should forget her child, I will never forget you.

The Lord said, “They are my people; they will not deceive me.” And so he saved them

Remember your promises and do not despise us; do not bring disgrace on Jerusalem, the place of your glorious throne. Do not break the covenant you made with us.

My people cry out to me, ‘Even though our sins accuse us, help us, Lord, as you have promised. We have turned away from you many times; we have sinned against you.

Why are you like someone taken by surprise, like a soldier powerless to help? Surely, Lord, you are with us! We are your people; do not abandon us.’”

Why have you abandoned us so long? Will you ever remember us again?

But I did not, since that would have brought dishonor to my name among the nations which had seen me lead Israel out of Egypt.

Yes, Father, this was how you were pleased to have it happen.

You did not choose me; I chose you and appointed you to go and bear much fruit, the kind of fruit that endures. And so the Father will give you whatever you ask of him in my name.

I ask, then: Did God reject his own people? Certainly not! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.

For God does not change his mind about whom he chooses and blesses.

Who made you superior to others? Didn't God give you everything you have? Well, then, how can you boast, as if what you have were not a gift?

Let us, then, who were the first to hope in Christ, praise God's glory!

Let us praise God for his glorious grace, for the free gift he gave us in his dear Son!

You belong to the Lord your God; he has chosen you to be his own people from among all the peoples who live on earth.

When that happens, I will become angry with them; I will abandon them, and they will be destroyed. Many terrible disasters will come upon them, and then they will realize that these things are happening to them because I, their God, am no longer with them.

Be determined and confident. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, the Lord himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.”

The Lord himself will lead you and be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you, so do not lose courage or be afraid.”

Do this because you belong to the Lord your God. From all the peoples on earth he chose you to be his own special people.

It is not because you are good and do what is right that the Lord is letting you take their land. He will drive them out because they are wicked and because he intends to keep the promise that he made to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

And so I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.”

The Canaanites and everyone else in the country will hear about it. They will surround us and kill every one of us! And then what will you do to protect your honor?”

But you are the chosen race, the King's priests, the holy nation, God's own people, chosen to proclaim the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of darkness into his own marvelous light.
