Good News Translation

Four hundred and eighty years after the people of Israel left Egypt, during the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the second month, the month of Ziv, Solomon began work on the Temple.

The Temple which King Solomon built was 90 feet long and 30 feet wide.

There he built his Temple like his home in heaven; he made it firm like the earth itself, secure for all time.

On the day the 430 years ended, all the tribes of the Lord's people left Egypt.

On that day the Lord brought the Israelite tribes out of Egypt.

Next, the man took me into the central room, the Holy Place. He measured the passageway into it: it was 10 feet deep

Now go up into the hills, get lumber, and rebuild the Temple; then I will be pleased and will be worshiped as I should be.

Men who live far away will come and help to rebuild the Temple of the Lord. And when it is rebuilt, you will know that the Lord Almighty sent me to you. This will all happen if you fully obey the commands of the Lord your God.

On the first day of the second month in the second year after the people of Israel left Egypt, the Lord spoke to Moses there in the Tent of his presence in the Sinai Desert. He said,

He destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan and made his people the owners of the land.

But it was Solomon who built him a house.

Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God;

How can God's temple come to terms with pagan idols? For we are the temple of the living God! As God himself has said, “I will make my home with my people and live among them; I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

Keep your roots deep in him, build your lives on him, and become stronger in your faith, as you were taught. And be filled with thanksgiving.

For Abraham was waiting for the city which God has designed and built, the city with permanent foundations.

But Christ has already come as the High Priest of the good things that are already here. The tent in which he serves is greater and more perfect; it is not a tent made by human hands, that is, it is not a part of this created world.

Come as living stones, and let yourselves be used in building the spiritual temple, where you will serve as holy priests to offer spiritual and acceptable sacrifices to God through Jesus Christ.

For three hundred years Israel has occupied Heshbon and Aroer, and the towns around them, and all the cities on the banks of the Arnon River. Why haven't you taken them back in all this time?
