And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him.

“Take your son,” God said, “your only son, Isaac, whom you love so much, and go to the land of Moriah. There on a mountain that I will show you, offer him as a sacrifice to me.”

“I will announce,” says the king, “what the Lord has declared. He said to me: ‘You are my son; today I have become your father.

The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness.

Jesus answered him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me.

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.

Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God's only Son.

so that all will honor the Son in the same way as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

Jesus answered, “What God wants you to do is to believe in the one he sent.”

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If you eat this bread, you will live forever. The bread that I will give you is my flesh, which I give so that the world may live.”

The living Father sent me, and because of him I live also. In the same way whoever eats me will live because of me.

And he who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.”

Jesus said to them, “If God really were your Father, you would love me, because I came from God and now I am here. I did not come on my own authority, but he sent me.

Jesus answered, “His blindness has nothing to do with his sins or his parents' sins. He is blind so that God's power might be seen at work in him.

Certainly not God, who did not even keep back his own Son, but offered him for us all! He gave us his Son—will he not also freely give us all things?

For God never said to any of his angels, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.” Nor did God say about any angel, “I will be his Father, and he will be my Son.”

This is how we know what love is: Christ gave his life for us. We too, then, ought to give our lives for others!

This is what love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven.

And we ourselves know and believe the love which God has for us. God is love, and those who live in love live in union with God and God lives in union with them.

The testimony is this: God has given us eternal life, and this life has its source in his Son.

I am writing this to you so that you may know that you have eternal life—you that believe in the Son of God.
