If we are rich and see others in need, yet close our hearts against them, how can we claim that we love God?

Good people take care of their animals, but wicked people are cruel to theirs.

If you oppress poor people, you insult the God who made them; but kindness shown to the poor is an act of worship.

When you give to the poor, it is like lending to the Lord, and the Lord will pay you back.

If you refuse to listen to the cry of the poor, your own cry for help will not be heard.

If you do not obey the law, God will find your prayers too hateful to hear.

He answered, “Whoever has two shirts must give one to the man who has none, and whoever has food must share it.”

You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ; rich as he was, he made himself poor for your sake, in order to make you rich by means of his poverty.

Do not forget to do good and to help one another, because these are the sacrifices that please God.

Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don't have enough to eat.

What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!”—if you don't give them the necessities of life?

If we say we love God, but hate others, we are liars. For we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others, whom we have seen.

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Messiah is a child of God; and whoever loves a father loves his child also.
