Listen, my people, to my warning; Israel, how I wish you would listen to me!

“Listen, my people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel. I am God, your God.

I am telling you the truth: we speak of what we know and report what we have seen, yet none of you is willing to accept our message.

If you will only obey me, you will eat the good things the land produces.

He said, “If you will obey me completely by doing what I consider right and by keeping my commands, I will not punish you with any of the diseases that I brought on the Egyptians. I am the Lord, the one who heals you.”

We believe human testimony; but God's testimony is much stronger, and he has given this testimony about his Son.

The place was named Massah and Meribah, because the Israelites complained and put the Lord to the test when they asked, “Is the Lord with us or not?”

On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, a thick cloud appeared on the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast was heard. All the people in the camp trembled with fear.

This happened at Meribah, where the people of Israel complained against the Lord and where he showed them that he is holy.
